IL Studio redesigned the logo for the Livorno Order of Architects following a competition launched by the organisation itself. The aim was to create an iconic logo that could express the social and cultural values of the architectural community while promoting the collective, social and cultural role of architecture across the local area.
IL Studio’s design is based on a pentagonal shape inspired by Livorno’s historic urban plan, symbolising the city’s history and distinctive identity. Within the pentagon, a series of squares recalls the paving of Terrazza Mascagni, representing the connection between architecture and the urban landscape. The square symbolises balance, order and solidity—fundamental principles of architecture.
The overlapping shapes evoke the layers used in digital architectural design, expressing the complexity and organisation involved in the design process. The aqua-green colour highlights the connection with sustainability and the sea, representing environmental responsibility and Livorno’s close relationship with its maritime identity.
The logo brings together the contemporary values of architecture, reflecting the city’s history, the relationship between architecture and the urban landscape, a commitment to sustainability and its deep connection with the sea.
